10-03-2003 / New York City, NY / Waldorf-Astoria Hotel ("18th annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony") / USA
• Attendance: 1,500
Three classic British acts The Police, The Clash, and Elvis Costello joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their 2003 Inductees.
This was their first public performance in almost 18 years. On 15-06-1986 they performed at a benifit show for Amnesty International in East Rutherford, NJ.
In 11-2002 Sting told Sting.com, "I am very proud of the legacy of The Police. We were a damn good band and it still holds up. And it's an honour to be voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and to be recognized by one's peers. I've been to one of the induction ceremonies and it was great fun, I'm really looking forward to the evening."
