Festival line-up: The Neville Brothers, Joan Baez, Lou Reed, Jackson Browne, Peter Gabriel, Bryan Adams, Sting, U2.
Attendance: 13,380 (P); sellout.
Together with several other artists Sting joined the six-city Conspiracy Of Hope tour to celebrate Amnesty International's 25th birthday.
Just ten minutes past seven a huge, crystal-clear video screen played the Special AKA's antiapartheid anthem (Free) Nelson Mandela. The concert itself consisted of seven sets varying in length from twenty to forty minutes.
During the finale Sting, Bono, Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, Jackson Browne, Bryan Adams and Joan Baez joined together for I Shall Be Released.
