France was covered with snow. The audience was told the band's minibus got stuck in the snow on the highway.
The show was scheluded to begin at 7.00pm, but it didn't really start until 11.00pm. The same record was played over and over again. The audience got very impatient and were about to break the venue down.
Eventually, after waiting for hours, the same guy from the sponsor radio station (RTL) came back on stage, and announced: "They are here! They just arrived! Just a few minutes to change their clothes and they'll be yours!".
Although The Go-Go's were scheduled to play support, their performance was eventually skipped.
Halfway through the show Sting referred to the incident: "I must say I didn't think we'd ever get here. I thought we'd always be on the road. This song is called Shadows In The Rain".
