The Police - Concert information

[Updated: August 12, 2001]

16-01-1981 / Los Angeles, CA / Variety Arts Theatre / USA
Attendance: 1,100; sellout.
Man In A Suitcase, Shadows In The Rain, When The World Is Running Down and Roxanne appeared on the video "Around The World". Man In The Suitcase was later released on "Message In A Box".
Miles: "It's a small place, so we decided to put on a special show and announced that only blondes would be admitted. We didn't mind whether they dyed their hair, sprayed it, or anything else, as long as it ended up blonde. We did a tie-up with a local wig supplier, so that anyone who didn't want to spray or dye their hair could still get into the concert by putting on a wig [...] The guys topped off the show by doing an encore and coming back on stage all wearing black wigs" (Police File no.12 - p.8).
After the show The Police were awarded with a gold record award for "Zenyatta Mondatta".
The show in Denver was cancelled, because Sting and Andy got sick again.
