The Police - Concert information

[Updated: August 12, 2001]

??-10-1977 / München / "Theaterfestival" / GERMANY
The Police performed twelve shows with the German composer Eberhard Schoener at the Theaterfestival in München. Andy got to know Eberhard after he work with him in the past.
On the Münchner Theaterfestival a huge circustent was placed. The stage was set up in the middle of this marquee. Cosmic laser projections in rainbow colours were projected on the inside of the tent. About 12,000 people in total attended the twelve shows in a period of six days.
Andy: "We were going to have a laser show, girl singers, live bands ... a real German fair. However, it turned out he needed a drummer, so I took Stewart along. We drove there and when we arrived we discovered he was short of a bass player, too, so I phoned Sting and he got the next flight over." (Police File no.17; p.23).
The following musicians were involved in these shows ("Laser in Concert - Trance-Formation"):
Eberhard Schoener: Moog, polyphonen Synthesizer, Mellotron
Sting bass, vocals
Stewart Copeland drums
Andy Summers guitar
Hansi Ströer keyboards (ex-Mild Maniacs)
Tölzer Knabenchor
Bernie Swayder & Phil Guskin (Laserium from Los Angeles)
